ENROLMENT CEREMONY PROCEDURE

CLs: “Company, attention.”
Guides will stand at attention at this point.
CLs: “By Patrols, left wheel, quick march”
Footdrill commanders will give the timing, first patrol leader leads her patrol off to the left. The second patrol leader will then follow, followed by the third and so on. While waiting for a patrol to move off, the rest will hentak.
CLs: “Centre march”
Patrol leader will then lead the file down away from the CLs, that is, the flagpole, till she reaches a spot where the back of the horseshoe is going to be.
CLs: “ Alternate patrols, right and left march”
Command will be given when the patrol leader reaches the spot where the back of the horseshoe is to be. The patrol leader will then swing to the right. Her patrol follows her. The next patrol leader will swing to the left, and the third the right. This will be done until all patrols are in the horseshoe formation. Guides will hentak while the positions are being adjusted.
CLs: “Company, halt.”
This command will be given only after the shape of the horseshoe is satisfactory. Guides will then stop hentaking.
CLs: “Company, inward turn.”
The company will then turn to face the flagpole. The ceremony procedure as stated above will carry on at this point.
CLs: “Incoming guides from ______, _______ and ______ patrol, Fall Out”.
Incoming guides and Patrol Leader will take a step back and turn to the right. All will march forward until they in front of the flag pole.
PL: “Patrol, right turn”
Patrol will turn to the right to face the flagpole. Last person in the row will give the timing.
PLs: PLs will fall out at this point to introduce the new Sec 1 guide to the guider.
Guider: “Do you know what your Honour means?”
Incoming guides: “My honour means that I can be trusted to be truthful and honest”
Guider: “Can I trust you on you honour to do you best: To do your duty to God, To serve your country and help other people, and to keep the Guide Law.”
Incoming guides: (recite promise)
After the incoming guides recite their promise, the guider will pin the trefoil on the Guide’s scarf.
Guider: “You are now a member of the worldwide sisterhood of Guides. Salute the colours.”
CLs: “New guides, salute colours”
New guides will then salute the colours. The new guide at the end of the row will give the timing., “Check Up, Salute, Check Down”
PL: “Patrol backward turn”
Patrol will turn to face the company. Last person in the row will give the timing
CLs: “Company salute new guides”
Company salutes new guides, Footdrill commanders will give the timing “Check Up, Salute, Check Down”
PL: “Patrol, return salute”
Patrol returns salute, last person in the row will continue to give the timing “Check Up, Salute, Check Down”
CLs: “Patrol back to original position quick march”
Patrols will return to their original positions. Command will be given by last person in the patrol. The first person will now give the timing. The ceremony will continue, as other patrol fall out in their groups.
CLs: “Company, dismissed.”
The command will be given at the end of the ceremony and guides will be free to continue with the reception.


Attire:
Sec 1s - 4s: Full Guides Uniform with Belt, Whistle, ironed Scarf, World Badge, Trefoil (for Sec 2s-4s), White socks and White shoes (NOT footdrill boots)

Things to note:
  • White socks should be at least 3 fingers above ankle and should not have any logos on them.
  • Guides with hair longer than shoulder-length are to tie two braids.
  • Sec 1s, please ensure that you know the basic Fall In/Fall Out procedures.
  • All Guides should familiarise themselves with the Enrolment Ceremony procedure as stated above before coming for CCA.
