Footdrill Practice on Monday, 1st February 2016

Time: 0700-0800

Attire: PE T-Shirt with NY Skirt & Shorts, Polished Boots, White Socks, Hat, Specs Hooks, Hair/Bun Net

Venue: Area near the canteen

Things to note:

Have your breakfast before reporting for practice
Please be punctual and report at 7am sharp
Bring your water bottle for practice
Have adequate rest the night before
Familiarize yourself with the parade procedure

Details for Wee Kim Wee Challenge

Hello Guides!

Here are the details for the Wee Kim Wee Challenge we mentioned during CCA


The biennial Wee Kim Wee Challenge will take place in March 2016 and we are now inviting interested Units to sign up for the preliminary rounds.

The preliminary rounds will be conducted by Division level on the 18 March at Camp Christine. The top 2 Units from each Division will then compete in the grand finals on 28 May at Guide House.

A briefing on the rules, regulations and details of the Challenge will be as follows:

Each Company can send a team of 5 Guides to participate in this Challenge.

Girl Guides Singapore
Wee Kim Wee Challenge 2016

Background:
President Wee Kim Wee presented Girl Guides Singapore with a shield bearing the Istana’s Coat of Arms in 1994 just before he ended his final term. This Challenge was held on a biennial basis and has seen umpteen Girl Guides through a variety of challengeseach challenging them to exercise creative and critical thinking skills.
The Wee Kim Wee Challenge was revived in 2007 challenging Guides to showcase their culinary skills and present their dishes creatively.
Theme for 2016: CONNECT
Date of Preliminary Rounds: 18 March 2016, Friday Venue: Camp Christine
Time: 2 shifts

Shift 1 (North & West Division): 9.30am 1pm Shift 2 (East & South Division): 1.30pm 5pm
Task:
Each Unit will prepare 2 dishes within a 2 hours’ time frame. Both cooked portions should be sufficient for 2.
Dish One: Units Choice
  •   This dish must include the two following ingredients; dried prawns (hay bee) and coconut milk. These two ingredients will be provided for by the organisers on the day of the competition
  •   This dish must be cooked on portable gas stove. Units to bring their own gas stoves and gas cylinders
  •   The Units can choose to cook their method of cooking Dish Two: Surprise Dish
  •   This dish is a surprise dish. Participants will be informed on the day itself
  •   The recipe and ingredients for the surprise dish will be provided by the
    organisers
  •   This surprise dish can only be cooked in mess tins over small disposable
    aluminium stoves and solid fuel.
  •   The Units will have to bring their own mess tins
  •   The disposable aluminium stove and solid fuel will be provided for by the
    organisers
  •   This dish must complement cooked rice. Cooked rice will be provided for by
    the organisers
Girl Guides Singapore
Wee Kim Wee Challenge 2016

At the end of 2 hours, Units will be given 10 minutes to lay out their presentation. Presenters are expected to present their creations to the judges and explain how it relates to the theme “Connect”. They have 5 minutes to present.
Rules & Regulations:
  1. Each Unit can send a team of 5 Guides to take part in the competition. The team of 5
    Guides must include at least one Secondary 1 / 2 Guide
    3 Guides will be involved in the preparation and cooking of the dishes. The other 2 Guides will be involved in the presentation. Presenters can bring along draft materials for the presentation. The full presentation will be done at the competition venue
  2. Each Unit must bring their own portable gas stove. No electric stove / electric appliances are allowed. Each Unit can only bring 1 portable gas stove
  3. All ingredients, cooking utensils, cutleries used for the competition needs to be halal

All ingredients for the surprise dish will be provided for by the organisers. Units are expected to bring their own ingredients for the dish of their own choice (with the exception of dried prawns and coconut milk. These two ingredients will be provided for by the organisers)


We encourage those who are good/ interested in cooking to sign up for the competition! If you are interested, please inform one of the CLs or ACLs by 2nd February.

TDP Parade Procedure 2016


Hello Guides!
This is the parade procedure for Thinking Day Parade 2016. Please familiarise with the procedure

Colour Party: Jazlin, Tammy, Rui Qing, huiping, jiawei

Parade Procedure

1.     Contingent contingent, masok baris.
(Band to start playing march-in beat)
Contingent marches in. Once guides have reached their positions, they will hentak on the spot and turn to face the front according to the drum beat. Drumming stops.
Squad 1 commander marches to the front of contingent and squad 2 commander marches to the back of contingent according to xinrui's timing.

2.     Contingent contingent, ke-kenan lurus.
Timer will give timing of ‘one check one’. Whole company will then adjust dressing according to the right marker. There should be as little shuffling made by boots as possible. Squad 1 commander will turn to face the squad and squad commanders will adjust their positions according to the middle person of the whole contingent.

3.     Contingent contingent, pandang ke-hadapan, pandang.
Timer will give timing of ‘up’ and whole company to jerk their heads and arms back to original position.
 4.     Contingent contingent, senang diri.

5.     Sekolah sedia.
All will sedia with school population.
Parade commander and CLs will turn to face the flag poles. xinrui will give timing of ‘check up’ for parade commander, CLs and squad commanders to salute while national anthem plays.
(Music for national anthem plays)
xinrui will then give timing of ‘check down’ for parade commander, CLs and squad commanders to check down. Parade commander and CLs will then turn back to face the contingent.
6.     Membacherkan ikrar.
Timer will give timing of ‘check up’. Alison will lead the school to recite the pledge. After reciting the pledge, timer will give timing of ‘check down’.

7.     Sekolah senang diri.
After reciting the pledge, colour party will march to the atrium. Thinking Day message will be said by maple.
8.     Contingent contingent, sedia.
Colour party marches back on podium.
Alison will lead the company in renewing the guide promise. “Guides let’s renew our promise.”
Timer will give timing of ‘check up’ and ‘check down’.
Note: Everyone will recite the guide promise together immediately after timer give timing of ‘check up’.

9.     Contingent contingent, begerak ke-kanan bertiga-tiga, ke-kanan pusing.
Timer will give timing of ‘one check one’ for contingent to turn to the right, facing the canteen. Squad commanders will march back to the extreme front and back of the contingent according to xinrui's timing.
10.  Contingent contingent, dari kiri cepat jalan.
(Band starts playing march-out beat)
Contingent will march off towards the canteen. Guides will hentak until the music prompts them to berhenti towards the end. Xinrui will then ask the contingent to fall out. CLs, parade commander and colour party will march off after the last person passes the podium. Parade commander will give timing to march down the stairs and towards the end of the quadrangle.

Parade commander will fall back in at the podium and give the command for the school population to be dismissed “Sekolah sedia. Sekolah keluar baris.” Parade commander will then fall out and join the rest of the company at the canteen.
