Here are the details for the Wee Kim Wee Challenge we mentioned during CCA
The biennial Wee Kim Wee Challenge will take place in March 2016 and we are now inviting interested Units to sign up for the preliminary rounds.
The preliminary rounds will be conducted by Division level on the 18 March at Camp Christine. The top 2 Units from each Division will then compete in the grand finals on 28 May at Guide House.
A briefing on the rules, regulations and details of the Challenge will be as follows:

Time: 4pm – 5pm
Each Company can send a team of 5 Guides to participate in this Challenge.
Girl Guides Singapore
Wee Kim Wee Challenge 2016
Background:
President Wee Kim Wee presented Girl Guides Singapore with a shield bearing the Istana’s Coat of Arms in 1994 just before he ended his final term. This Challenge was held on a biennial basis and has seen umpteen Girl Guides through a variety of challenges—each challenging them to exercise creative and critical thinking skills.
The Wee Kim Wee Challenge was revived in 2007 challenging Guides to showcase their culinary skills and present their dishes creatively.
Theme for 2016: CONNECT
Date of Preliminary Rounds: 18 March 2016, Friday Venue: Camp Christine
Time: 2 shifts
Shift 1 (North & West Division): 9.30am – 1pm Shift 2 (East & South Division): 1.30pm – 5pm
Task:
Each Unit will prepare 2 dishes within a 2 hours’ time frame. Both cooked portions should be sufficient for 2.

This dish must include the two following ingredients; dried prawns (hay
bee) and coconut milk. These two ingredients will be provided for by the
organisers on the day of the competition

This dish must be cooked on portable gas stove. Units to bring their own gas
stoves and gas cylinders

The Units can choose to cook their method of cooking
Dish Two: Surprise Dish

This dish is a surprise dish. Participants will be informed on the day itself

The recipe and ingredients for the surprise dish will be provided by the
organisers

This surprise dish can only be cooked in mess tins over small disposable
aluminium stoves and solid fuel.

The Units will have to bring their own mess tins

The disposable aluminium stove and solid fuel will be provided for by the
organisers

This dish must complement cooked rice. Cooked rice will be provided for by
the organisers

At the end of 2 hours, Units will be given 10 minutes to lay out their presentation. Presenters are expected to present their creations to the judges and explain how it relates to the theme “Connect”. They have 5 minutes to present.

Each Unit can send a team of 5 Guides to take part in the competition. The team of 5
Guides must include at least one Secondary 1 / 2 Guide
3 Guides will be involved in the preparation and cooking of the dishes. The other 2 Guides will be involved in the presentation. Presenters can bring along draft materials for the presentation. The full presentation will be done at the competition venue

Each Unit must bring their own portable gas stove. No electric stove / electric
appliances are allowed. Each Unit can only bring 1 portable gas stove

All ingredients, cooking utensils, cutleries used for the competition needs to be halal

All ingredients for the surprise dish will be provided for by the organisers. Units are
expected to bring their own ingredients for the dish of their own choice (with the
exception of dried prawns and coconut milk. These two ingredients will be provided
for by the organisers)
